Long Beach neighborhoods-ken

I've lived in Long Beach for 6 years now and consider it a great place to live, especially if you like big city living. It has many things to offer such as tons of restaurants, a vibrant downtown, a cool aquarium that we frequent often with my 3y.o. son, and a domestic airport that is much quicker than LAX. It does have "seedy" neighborhoods mixed in with the good ones, sort of in a checkerboard pattern. Generally, the nicer, safer areas to live are in Belmont Shore/Naples area, Signal Hill, Near the University (Los Altos area) & Bixby Knolls. There is a price to pay though. Many homes in these areas have already exceeded $1million. Driving to downtown LA takes 30-45 minutes.
