Cultural and Diverse City

I have lived in Long Beach since 1986. The city has undergone tremendous change since then. The Navy base has closed and the McDonnell-Douglas plant (now Boeing) is building the last of the commercial jets (717). Now Long Beach is relying on the service sector, tourism and information technology as well as the port for jobs. Long Beach is ethnically very diverse (several Central American, Asian, African American, Pacific Island, gay) population. There is a very good university, decent school system, art museums, shopping and restaurants located all over the city. Although Long Beach can have good and bad areas to live in, overall the East Side is one of the best areas and downtown has many apartment/lofts/condos located near the Metro. I enjoy the climate and nearby ocean. I plan on staying in Long Beach.
