I've lived in Lynchburg now for 12 years and there have been alot of changes for the good. There is so much to do here and it's a great place to live. Anyone who says otherwise is someone who would be unhappy wherever they lived. We have great restaurants live Olive Garden, Neighbors Place, The Craddock Terry, The Depot Grille, Waterstone Pizza, Panera Bread, and more coming. Target now is a super store with a full grocery store. The Blackwater Creek trails near the city are awesome. Peaksview Park has tennis courts, basketball, mountain bike trails, frisbee golf course, many baseball and soccer fields. Liberty University has some awesome mountain bike trails, SnowFlex is something that people come to from all over the east coast for year-round snowboarding and skiing, the lodge up there has a stunning view with a fireplace and cozy couches. we have nice schools, libraries, we have the Lynchburg Orchestra, several music stores, we have ice skating and hockey games. The Dollar Theatre here is really nice. It's newer and clean. There's plenty of shopping at the mall and on Wards Road. If you want more you can go to Charlottesville (or Roanoke) which are about an hour away. We have a train station that will take you to Washington DC for around $75. You can canoe on the James River. We have some small historical museum's and a children's museum. There is so much to do here if you look for it. The many wooded neighborhood are nice with low cost of living. Low taxes. Nice roadways, etc. There's alot of decent people here too. There are people here from all over. I fit in better with the non-natives, but most people are really nice. I'm from Southern California, which is a nice place to live, but the crime rate is high, the cost of living is outrageous, and it's harder to find a job there than it is in Lynchburg. Count your blessings Lynchburger's -- there are many!:)
