Review of Meridian, Idaho

Pleasant suburbia
Star Rating - 2/28/2008
Meridian recently placed in the top 50 suburban communities in the US. A bedroom community of Boise, it has a separate character of its own. The population today is seven times larger than in 1988. The town has a calm, contented, family-friendly feel without being boring. It is a highly churched community, has been building new schools almost every year, added some parks recently, and expands the police force in line with population growth. The oldish downtown reflects the farm roots of the area and is just beginning to be modernized and spiffed up. It is already clean and pleasant and will just get better. While the subdivisions seem to go on and on for miles in every direction, they are nice-looking and well-kept. There is no night life except restaurants. Bohemian it is not. You can live in north Boise for that. Meridian is not sappy suburbia, it's real family life.
