Good place to live if you dont need to work

Michigan especially the metro Detroit area is a dead zone. The jobs situation is absolutely terrible. The climate is everything but nice. If you have sinus trouble you will not fare well here. The weather changes too much. On the plus side there is a lot to do if your are an outdoors type or if you like waiting in an unemployment line.
Also the state budget is a mess and law makers need to realize that a cut in services is inevitable. Schools are taking a huge cut already. I don't this is a great idea in a state that needs to redefine itself as the auto industry can no longer be relied on.
