In my view, Jackson, MI has a long way to go to get past its depressed look and stagnant feeling. Although there are some cultural events at the local community college, a resident still needs to go to Ann Arbor or Lansing for a fuller cultural life. Nevertheless, the area has a wide range of areas, from rural to city life, and there does appear an attitude focusing on growth and providing citizens with more opportunities (i.e. a 10 mile bike/hike/walk trail was just completed).
