I was born and raised in minneapolis. On the surface people are friendly. It may catch someone from a much larger city of guard when someone says hi to you while you are walking down the street. Don't be fooled. The people are hard to get to know, unless you went to high school with them. There are exceptions but for the most part people are not willing to make new friends. It is a shame since there are many, many things to do here. We have an excellent park system and world renowned hospitals and theatre. There are also professional and college teams of note. It took a long time but finally we have better stores and unique restaurants. if you move here make sure you have some kind of "built in" colleagues or friends otherwise socially you will have a difficult time.
