Gay Minneapolis etc.

To start, if you're gay it doesn't matter if you are in Minneapolis, Denver, San Diego, Dallas, etc...all these cities have the same kinds of guys who move around every few years to find new guys and jobs. Even though there is a big gay populatoin in Minneapolis it's pretty much the same guys over and over, most are transplants from other metro areas seeking something 'different', and don't stay for more than 2-5 years.
If you don't have a college degree, you will be miserable in Minneapolis. You won't find much besides the lowest paying jobs, and with the ridiculous cost of housing - not to mention most of the affordable apartments are now becoming condos, you won't find much. Minneapolis is a place for the college-degreed, trendy yuppies; unless you have these things I would suggest a city like Duluth (where I moved to) which is more afffordable, and even has first-time homeowner programs and services available - not even an option in Minneapolis anymore. Crime in Minneapolis is bad because there is a bizarre combination of people running the city, very high-educated uber elites who feel sorry for criminals and refuse to hold specific populations of people accountable for their actions; thus there is a sense that certain people are okay to rob, beat up, rip off or beg for money from and nothing is done about it. However, with more wealthy people moving downtown, I'm not sure how that will go when it's literally on their front steps.
