i know the crime is up. but it spiked in the nineties and i hope it will go down again. i just don't think you can beat minneapolis if you want an urban environment withtout the hassle of a horrendously long commutes or outrageous home prices. no, houses are not cheap right now. we're not buying becuase we think they're overvalued significantly right now. but if you think home prices are high here, check out chicago or any of the cities on the coasts. it's nothing.
beyond that, i've never seen better schools or healthcare either than in minnesota. and MN people may be a bit aloof at first, but i appreciate their just basic kindness & niceness compared to the aggressiveness & "tough"ness of people in bigger cities.
