I lived here all my life and I hate the place. It might be a growing city but that doesnt mean the city is getting better. It is in the most conservative state in the country. The people are such bigots. This place is still stuck in 1675. If you are between the ages of 18-30, there is nothing for you to do here. NOTHING!!!! Yes, you will find a bar on about every other corner or what not but they close at 1. Is Nebraska seriously the only state that the bars close at 1? For my jobs I try a lot and i must say that this is the only place I been to where the bars close at 1. You have to cross the bridge to Iowa to the casinos if you want a decent amount of time to drink or to even see a stripper. The old market is LAME. There is no diversity. Everyone is strongly republican and strongly catholic. The public transporttation is horrible. They have a bus system called MAT or Uncle MAT. The bus drivers are rude and they only run about every 1.5 to 2 hours and they end at 10pm. The bus only covers a third of the city anyways. You will need a car. Now some places have bad drivers but Nebraska has Stupid drivers. Oh, and taxes are sky effing high. You even have to pay a wheel tax, so if your vehicle has wheels...they tax the s-** out of you. The city is also very culturally divided. Omaha Public Schools suck. You have to go to one of the suburb schools to get a decent education.
