Review of Omaha, Nebraska

glad I left
Star Rating - 1/16/2008
After living in Omaha for 7 years, I moved away from Omaha a year ago, and it was one of the happiest days of my life. On the plus side in Omaha, you’ll find a good school system and the great College World Series. You’ll also love Omaha if you loved the 1980s, because living there is like living in a time warp. On the down side, the mindset is redneck, and Omaha natives are surprisingly arrogant. The crime rate is very high, but on record Omaha’s crime rate is low, because the reporting system is skewed and/or inept. Auto insurance is also low because the police don’t enforce traffic regulations. If you like poor customer service, you’ll love shopping in Omaha. There isn’t much variety from store to store, so for a good shopping experience you have to go to Des Moines, Kansas City or Minneapolis. If you’re wondering why housing prices are so low in Omaha, it’s because most people don’t want to live there!
