Omaha is growing, with a little over 400,000 residents now. Like some of the bigger cities, Omaha has lots of suburb cities that make up about 600,000+ residents combined with Omaha. Omaha is good in the sense that it experiences all 4 seasons, although spring is quite short. Winters can be harsh here as blowing snow and ice are a factor. One downfall is that summers are extremely hot at times and unfortunately, very muggy. Overall however, the weather is not too bad. The midwest also experiences tornados, which can be quite frightening. There is an increase in the job market and Omaha is steadily growing out west. Before too long, it seems like we might run right down and merge with Lincoln like the big city of Chicago! LOL Omaha also has a wonderful ZOO which houses the largest indoor jungle and indoor swamp. The ZOO also has a desert inside a large dome, a bat cave, gorilla valley, and an aquarium that boasts a tunnel that you can walk through with all of the fish swimming above you. And that doesn't even speak for the animals that are in the outside area. We also hold the annual College World Series event, which draws thousands of people every year and drums up business close to downtown. Omaha has an area downtown called "The Old Market" which is a combination of old world charm (vintage style) and european foods. I will have to say however that even though overall, Omaha is not an expensive place to live, utilities are much higher than some other cities. We also have good schools, even some college prep type schools.
