Top 20 Reasons Why I hate living in Omaha, Nebraska:
1. Taxes are outrageous.
2. People and news outlets constantly bragging about how great the city is, when it's not that great.
3. The love people have for drinking heavily and eating out all the time.
4. The Huskers.
5. How alike most people are.
6. The most overrated downtown ever.
7. Racial tension and segregation.
8. Terrible weather and climate (hot/humid summers, cold/snowy winters, thunderstorms and tornadoes in between.)
9. No coast or great lake, a dirty river.
10. Little scenery, quite ugly everywhere.
11. West Omaha and West Omahans in general.
12. Mayor Mike Fahey and his self-indulgence.
13. Saddle Creek Records and the Emo crap they put out.
14. Little diversity.
15. How people don't realize going over to Council Bluffs to gamble and drink contributes to the Iowa economy, not Nebraska's.
16. The good ol' boy network and feeling that permeates the city, making it feel smaller than it is.
17. How people brag about there being 4-5 Fortune 500 companies here, when in reality most of the jobs in the city are call-center types with little room for growth.
18. Terrible roadways, loaded with potholes and congestion everywhere on Dodge St.
19. "Conservative, Christian values" hogwash that is everywhere.
20. It's lots of driving to anywhere worth driving to (major cities like Chicago, Rocky mountains, etc.).
Things that make Omaha cool:
1. The Zoo
2. Warren Buffett
3. CWS
Not enough to save me from boredom. Left for Portland and never looked back.
