I've been in Oregon for 34 years, and I love the area. It's green and beautiful. I can't think of anyplace I really want to live. The downside to all of this is the high cost of living here coupled with the low wages anyone is willing to pay. My husband lost his $20/hr job 3 years ago and now makes $11/hr. Rents and housing are high, as is gas, food and everything else. We'd like to stay but are feeling priced-out. Because I'm on SSDI, we at least have a tiny monthly income and because he's a security guard could probably transfer someplace else within his company or find something in another. I hate to feel this way, but we're in our mid-50's and need to find someplace less exensive to live.
