Review of Pembroke, Massachusetts

Pembroke Massachusetts Riverfront community
Star Rating - 8/7/2008
Pembroke Massachusetts, situated half way between Boston and the Cape Cod Canal in Plymouth, offers a wonderful quality of life and numerous styles and price points for housing. Pembroke for years was thought of as a recreational community, with the large number of fully recreational ponds, reservoirs and North River Riverfront summer retreats which were well visited. Many of the State, Boston and local politicians retreated to Pembroke to hold their meetings in the privacy of this wonderful community. Theaters and Inns were very common to the area. As the community grew, once summer homes grew too, the pondfront cottage was torn down and a beautiful waterfront year round lifestyle home was constructed, the vast amounts of woods and meadows gave birth to the subdivisions of middle and upper class housing. As the town grew, it still maintained it's small town appeal, scenic roads, the trout fry at the Pembroke Herring Run - still an annual event, public swim lessons at "The Landing" on Wampatuck Street where a white sandy beach and boat landing is located on the shores of beautiful Oldham Pond, the sunsets are breathtaking! With the growth of course comes the improvements to the Infrastructure as well, new schools and school systems are in place, once a regional school district, Pembroke's population has now created their own school system, accomodating elementary students at their well planned North Elementary, Bryantville and Hobomock Schools, middle grade students attend the Pembroke Middle and the new Pembroke High School is receiving rave reviews. Housing is available to all levels of income, from the empty nester retiree to the large family and upwardly mobile executive. Pembroke has a diverse housing stock, exclusive properties with detail beyond description in the million plus category as well as a first time homebuyer finding a quality starter home or condo in the low 200,000 range. New Construction is plentiful in Pembroke and also many Baby Boomers are making plans for a retirement home with waterviews as the properties remain affordable, offering wonderful amenities for water activities, horseback riding, cultural and arts as well as a town goverment offering support to all age levels of resident. Pembroke is the place to be now and in your future.
