Phoenix, the Myth

Phoenix is hot, dry, expensive, crowded and, with horrible traffic jams and unbridled development. The original western charm of this area was allowed to become paved over by look-alike stucco neighborhoods with the most common feature being large brick walls around each yard. Strip malls, convenience stores, and fast food abound. Poor government at the local level, with no planning authority or vision to do long range land use planning. Not a good place to retire.
