I am one of a very few natives of this city. Born and raised in "the valley of the sun". I know this city like the back of my hand. And for anybody to say this city is ugly and sucks brings much dissappointment into my heart. I wasnt born in the nice parts of this city, I was raised in an area most of the millions of people who live here have never been. Its one of the oldest parts of the city but also maybe the poorest part also. 19th ave and Buckeye. And yes that praticular area is ugly but that is where im from. But for any one to say Phoenix as a whole is ugly, dirty, poor or uneducated; is out of there mind!
Phoenix is in the Sonoran Desert. Ok, for you uneducated people this means your in a land environment that is like no other place in the world. You have plants that grow in your very back yard that do not grow any other place in the world. You have scents of aroumas from flowers that you can smell from dusk till down and have hummingbirds zipp by your face because here is where plants also bloom even in the evening. Do you know what people from Ohio do when they come here for football games? They come and climb our city mountains. Thats because there arent many cities that have mountains in there very backyard. Look around, were sorrounded by mountains and if thats not enough, have you at least tried to climb one. And when you get to the top and see how vast this beautiful city is; it reaches from eyes sight from east to west. But your lucky if your able to see a sunset from the top of our moutains. Its called a Sonaran Desert Sunset; where you gaze to the west and see the sky is filled with the colors of gold, purple, and orange. Then you gaze the east and see Phoenix city lights light up like a million little fier flies. We have rivers here, lakes and parks. For the people that didn't know we have the biggest city park in the world! The South Mountain Preserve. This is where my family would collect and have a picnic and everybody from 5 years and up will climb those mountains. Thats what we called "a day at the park."
But to the people who say Phoenix sucks, stupid, ugly, overated. Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the U.S. And its only going to get bigger! So if you are one of those people who complain, PLEASE LEAVE! Because Phoenix is growing and YOU ARE ONLY GETTING IN OUR WAY!
