Yep, Phoenix sure is horrible.

I was raised in Detroit, lived in Denver for a few years, and have been in Phoenix since '03. After 3 years in this hellhole, I am completely confounded as to why this place continues to gain population at such a remarkable pace, or why anyone would choose to live here on purpose.
I have to say that this city has actually accomplished what I once thought inpossible: it makes Detroit seem pretty cool by comparison. And Denver? Please. Phoenix is so inferior to the mile high city in every aspect of livability and likability, it isn't even remotely close.
Ditto everything that was said above: the crime here is terrible, the pollution's disgusting, the people are AWFUL (rednecks, gangsters, retirees and rich a-holes), the schools suck, sprawl is out of control (no downtown whatsoever; Detroit's was way cooler), and of course the summers... UGH. Five straight months of having to live in an air conditioned cave, during which time you seriously risk dying of heat stroke just walking out to your car at 6 in the morning to go to work (in other words, to sit in traffic for an hour in 100+ degree heat on the deathtrap freeways). No thanks.
Luckily, I'm only stuck here for another year or so, then back to beautiful, wonderful Colorado. Can't wait! Burn in hell, Phoenix!
