Crime Seems To Be Higher In Phoenix

I moved from Ft. Lauderdale, FL to Phoenix, AZ about 5 years ago and it seems like the crime is higher here in Phoenix. In the past 5 years I've had 2 cars broken in to and 5 bicycles stolen. I lived in Ft. Lauderdale for about 6 years and never had a problem. Cars you have to keep in your garage at night to eliminate this and for the bikes we actually cabled them to the wall/ceiling in the garage to eliminate the crime of opportunity if our garage door was open.

It's because you live in a bad area. After I lost a job, I lived on 32nd Street and E. Indian School where my truck was broken into twice in about 40 days. I got a job and moved to an apartment just two blocks away from Paradise Valley Mall and it was never a problem. Obviously, it's most likely you live in a bad area near downtown or in West Phoenix. It won't be a major problem in East Valley.
