People who love a place

It's ironic how people who absolutely LOVE Phoenix/AZ cannot bear to read or hear anyone speak of anything less than stellar about their beloved home city/state? If you love it good for you...write a review about what makes it so great and move on. Instead you have people like John down below that get their underwear in a knot and begin to make personal attacks on another person's experience in an attempt to discredit them.
If you believe a person would "exaggerate" a murder then you are a sick person yourself. We did a ton of research on the suburban area we chose to buy a home in and it was a safe pocket in the Valley but that started to change after a few years. Seeing a guy in a stolen car shoot and kill a gas station employee and then jump on the freeway would scar most "normal" people for life, but then again most people in the Valley of the Spun are far from normal. My husband was one of the ones who called police and this was well reported on the news there. You don't have to believe it--it's typical for people in the Valley to viciously attack others instead of agreeing to disagree.
Also I am not elderly--I moved to AZ in my 20's. John I wish you the best in your career path as a medical assistant. I work as a medical professional (college degree) and I know many hard working medical assistants and CNAs who worked for 15+ years in AZ and were only making beans. Because of my profession I did very well with work and pay there and I'm grateful for that.
Arizona was ranked in a recent survey by Travel & Leisure as 2nd in the country for the rudest people. The state ranks 47th in K-12 education, 8th in drug use/abuse, 8th in suicide (hmmmm interesting since life there is supposed to be so great), 14th most dangerous state for driving, 44th out of 50 for best places to live, 8th highest poverty rate in the US, 7th worst state for cyber crime, AZ has the 4th most deadliest highway in the nation, 2nd deadliest state for police pursuits, 1st in highest number of pedestrian deaths, 5th worst for food insecurity, 11th most stressed out state, 3rd in the country for child hunger. How's that for research? Most of this has been reported in the past year on the local news in AZ and it's readily available online should you look it up.
I respect the fact that people love Phoenix/the Valley or AZ in general. I read reviews of people who love it and I move on because it's that person's experience--who am I to judge? Why are so many locals there so intolerant of what they don't agree with? If it works for you awesome--that won't be everyone's experience. Let them tell their story. That's why there's a whole wide world for people to explore and find what makes them happy!
