Trying to get more info about PHX

My husband and I are considering a move to the PHX area, specifically the East Valley. How bad is the commute from this area to downtown PHX? I have read a lot of the posts that talk about the terrible traffic and I wanted to find out more. If anyone can provide info, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
