It's not THAT bad

Yes, we have heat, crime (5th largest city in U.S. - of course we have crime), illegal aliens (we border Mexico, Duh!), traffic, bad public transportation, high housing costs, ASU (hahaha...), and all the crummy things that come with big cities. HOWEVER, if you want or need to live in a big city, compare Phoenix to the other top 5: 1) NY, can't have your own car, lots of trash, horrible winters, expensive, outrageous crimes, etc. 2) LA, talk about crime?; smog, the prices on EVERYTHING suck, earthquakes, etc.
3) Chicago, old, run down, and crummy winters. Houston, crime, racial tension, humid, low pay rates. (then Phx is 5th), 6) Philly - all the bad wrapped up in a filthy city.
Phoenix is truly the best out of the top 6 largest if you want to live where there are good jobs, decent housing, close to a lot of attractions (San Diego, Vegas, Mexico, skiing in summer & winter), great golfing & shopping, etc. I've lived here for 8 years, my husband was born & raised here. We've never been victims of crime. Just be smart & don't live or go to the seedy places! Okay, the heat really does suck, so travel up to Flagstaff occasionally. ;-)
