Review of Phoenix, Arizona

Whine, whine, whine
Star Rating - 2/16/2009
Of course Phoenix has its share of problems. So does every city in the world. You just need to look at the various places in the area and pick the one that suits you best. I lived here for 5 years, moved away for work, and cannot wait to come back. I lived in Ahwatukee and loved it. I also have friends in Chandler and the far East valley who also love where they are. The weather is fantastic, the crime is actually low in many, many neighborhoods, it's near to everything (mountains, lakes, San Diego), and since so many people move here every month, it is a very exciting and vibrant place to live. I've lived in many medium and large cities and phoenix is still my favorite.

How can you possibly review a city you haven't recently lived in? Phoenix and its surrounding metro area is a different place in 2009 following the deflating housing bubble. Your facts are skewed. Growth in Phoenix is currently at a crawl, and both commercial and residential real estate are in big trouble. Huge cutbacks were announced at ASU West (Glendale) and East (Mesa). Sorry but you sound a little out of touch. You do realize that this country is in a serious recession, correct? And Phoenix is a boom-bust city where so much growth relied on discretionary income via MEW? The only decent place to live in Phoenix is north of Camelback, near the Central corridor. Good nightlife, restaurants, lots of good jobs and airport proximity. The East Valley is still far overpriced and overrated for what it offers.
