Missed opportunity

My wife and I moved here about two years ago. We did not do our "homework" before we moved here and we paid for it. We rented in a bad area of the city, luckily we only signed a six month lease. The housing market BOOMED and ended since we moved here and now the prices are too high as far as we are concerned. We have two young children and we want to live in a "safe" area of the city, but that is hard to find. The only reasonable priced homes are miles away from the city. The nice thing about the homes on the outside of the city is that they are newer, bad thing is that they are cheap and thin walled. If we had moved here ten years ago when home prices were reasonable, we might have stayed, but at this point we are ready to move again. Hopefully we can find a nice home and a safe place to raise our kids.
