Phoenix, the new Los Angeles

I was transferred to Phoenix in June of 2004 from CO, it was hot, but the cost of living was a bit lower than the Denver area, and the Winters made it worth putting up with the heat. We bought a home during the very beginning of the housing boom, and thank God for that. Homes have increased in price greatly. During our time here, we have seen grocery prices, housing prices, and everything else go up dramtically. Crime is an issue, there has been a surprising number of murders and violent crimes in the last few years. I have to give credit to the Police Department, they are struggling to prevent crime, but do catch the criminals, usually.
In my opinion, Phoenix has become another Los Angeles. Even the traffic is getting unbearable. It didn't used to be that way.
We sold our home a few months ago for a good profit, are retiring and are relocating to a smaller city. I guess that is what happens when a metro area grows to the 5th largest city in the US. Not for us.
