Can anyone Suggest a decent Area outside of Pittsb

I am thinking about moving to the Pittsburgh area or surrounding burbs.I am from Los Angeles and you know the average house cost about $400,000. here. Im just curious as to what neighborhoods are decent, low crime, and still moderately priced housing and or apartments while I look for a house. Any suggetstions would be greatly appreciated.
