I don't know what everyone is talking about. Massive Indian population? Hardcore conservative Christians? Maybe old people, but I'm 26. I've lived in Plano all my life. Yes, it is a generally safe city. Even in East Plano and the quasi-ghetto Douglass Center. But, there aren't to many Indians in East Plano. If i had to guess, like 1-50. Maybe 1-100. East Plano is the less rich Plano. West Plano is the proverbial "good side" of town, or the "inordinately wealthy" side of town. Compared to other cities, East Plano is still very safe. But, it's not like nothing ever happens. I've had hubcaps and spare tires stolen several times. Neighbor had her car window smashed in and robbed. Bodies have been found, kids kidnapped, etc. Etc. Point being, it's good to be cautious wherever you are. There are bad people everywhere, and Plano is no exception. But its no Chicago or Flint. Relatively very safe.
As for fundamentalist creationists. Yes, there are a lot in Plano. But they are typically the older people. People in their 20s are much less religious and much less pushy. Keep in mind, Hillary Clinton had almost 4M votes from Texas, compared to Trumps 4.7M. It's not an overwhelmingly conservative state. Comparatively, perhaps. But there still a great many leftists.
I don't know about pretentiousness. East Plano has a large mix of races. Primarily white, but a relatively moderate black and Hispanic population. Again, it really depends on the area. Lower middle class homes have more similarities to, well, the lower middle class. Whereas, the mansions and castles and large houses have the more traditional white/Asian populations and values. Part of that could be pretentiousness. But you won't really find that in East Plano, imo.
The streets are very nice. Driving in Dallas and Garland and other surrounding cities becomes very annoying if you're used to Planos wide roads.
There isnt a lot of nature to take in, of course. A concrete jungle. You'd have to drive out pretty far to see some nice nature. Though, the parks are nice. Oh. But tuey are also filled with Copperheads and Water Moccassins. So, if you walk through the forest or by the large ponds, be very careful and aware of your surroundings. My brother almost got bit by two separate Copperheads, at the same time. There's been an influx of snakes the past few years.
