Review of Portland, Oregon

Low Housing Costs...
Star Rating - 6/19/2006
Great place to live if money is a primary concern, as housing costs are relatively low, contributing to and overall low cost of living. A single person can confortable live on $35,000 per year and easily find a decent quality rental apartment or room for under $500/mo.

Myself, I rented a 2Be/1Ba upstairs of a house for $550 with all utilities paid in inner SE near Hawthorne nightlife hotspots. It was a great house with hardwood floors and a full kitchen in excellent repair.

Having lived in places like LA, SF, and NYC where housing costs are astronomical, Portland is a breath of fresh air, and much easier on the pocketbook.
