This was the "hands down" best place I've ever lived. Excellent food, culture, recreation....something for everyone. People are considerate, polite and very friendly. I lived there for almost 8 years and will go back to retire. I would never have left if it hadn't been for my job relocating. If you are thinking of moving to this beautiful city, you will be within 2 hours drive of the breathtaking Oregon Coast to the west and to the east, Mt. Hood is 2 hours drive. The Columbia River Gorge is an outstanding day trip away - about an hour drive. Check out the Willamette waterfront for shopping and dinner at Portland's floating Restaurant - Newport Bay. Powell's Book Store is a must to see - a block long building with everything you could ever want to read. Hope you enjoy Portland as much as I did! Peace/Love/Recycle/Support The Oregon SPCA.
