To San Franciscans, Every Damn Thing is Political

I love San Francisco; I have lived here 22 years. If you are a young adult, I think it's a wonderful place to live. Move here, you'll never regret it.
Not so great for families, or people who enjoy being full-fledged adults.
Be forewarned-most people in SF can only think in left-political terms. If you are an active republican, you will be shunned and insulted. I am not political myself, by which I mean that I'd rather focus on things I have more control over. This attitude has not gone over well with the true believers.
The political life here boils down to a never-ending series of complaints. You must be able to feign great regret over the birth of George Bush. If you can't do this with sincerity, you are more doomed than a Jew in medieval Europe. People are still complaining about Ronald Reagan, even though he's been out of office 21 years and is in fact dead; in their complaints, he'll live forever.
