Review of Santa Rosa Califor, Iowa

Beautiful but...
Star Rating - 9/6/2006
Santa Rosa has become unaffordable for young families (or anyone else for that matter)who do not come to this area with a serious amount of money. The housing market is beginning to cool off a bit but homes still average $500,000+. Some surrounding communities are even more expensive, Healdsburg, Sonoma and Sebastopol.
This is a beautiful area to live in, with the ocean just to the west, redwood forests nearby and a moderate climate but it comes with one hefty price tag.
The infrastructure has not kept pace with the growth, particularly the roads and highways. A freeway that was built over 30 years ago when our population was a fraction of what it is today is just now being widened.
If money is no obstacle to your relocation/retirement then you will find this a good choice for your new home.
When income is compared to the cost of living, I believe that we are rated as one of the least affordable areas to live in the country.
