I grew up in Shawnee but have lived in Carlisle, PA, Poteau, OK, Terre Haute, IN, Houston, Beaumont, and Port Arthur TX, and Rockford, IL and I can tell you that it is too hot, too cold, too much snow, and too windy in all the places I've lived except Texas as far as cold and snow go. Rockford is way too cold and way too windy and so was Terre Haute. The summer weather is nicer, but if you don't like wind, don't come to Rockford. It blows plus it snows like crazy and the temperature is still below freezing at night.
