It's a myth that all of California is expensive. There are lots of cities within California that are reasonable. Look up Chico, Ca. It's a very pretty city with lots of trees....Chico State Univ is there so there are lots of young people everywhere. The downtown is very quaint and lively. Beautiful parks....river... business seems to be thriving. I live in Willows which is 45 min from Chico and is a very small quiet town with down to earth people. Willows is a town that is super safe and the people would do anything for you. But, there is only a walmart here and that's it. However, you can buy a house for 35-75k. good luck!
