Review of Temecula, California

Temecula feels like home!
Star Rating - 12/3/2007
My husband and I moved up here in early 2004 with our then 1 and 3 year-old children. We came to Temecula to find more affordable living than what was available in North San Diego County. Temecula has a very residential feel in the residential areas, and a very commercial feel in the commercial areas.
Most but not all of Temecula has a "shiny-new" feel to it. For the most part the oldest homes and office buildings are maybe 20 years old and they are few and far between. Most of Temecula is residential housing, but there are lots of ranches, estates and wide open spaces. Temecula is a beautiful valley with clean air and panoramic mountian views.
The school district is the best in Riverside County. There are parks, golf courses or ponds on practically every corner. There is a family-oriented event in Temecula or Murrieta at least once a month. The 30+ wineries and Pechanga Casino are great for entertaining out of town guests or going on a date. The beach, the desert and skiing are all within short drives from town.
My husband and I both work here in Temecula and make a sufficient income. I would not want to have the commute to San Diego or Orange County because the traffic can be ugly coming in and out of town. The town is starting to lose the quaint feel many people came here for because of the agressive development.
Of course you don't have the San Diego weather here either, You can expect LOTS of sunshine and about a month of 90 degrees or more in the summer and a month of 45 degrees or less in the winter. But, you if you like a change in seasons, it's great.
I am from the Midwest, have lived in the South and from my experience, I would never want to leave this valley. The opportunities, climate and recreation are fantastic! The people are polite and private. I think that Temecula is a great place to live, work and raise a family.
