Lived there for 38 years

I lived in Washington D.C. for 38 years and just recently moved to LA. Traveled to most American cities and around the world. Lived in both Maryland and Northern Virginia suburbs. Like most cities DC has positive and negative aspects, it just depends what you're looking for in a city. Some of the positives and negatives are different aspects of the same thing. Positives: 1. Diverse highly educated population 2. Four distinct seasons with beautiful fall and spring and relatively mild winter 3. Good restaurants, free museums, and parks 4. Lots of high paying interesting jobs 5. Decent metro system used extensively by middle class 6. Relatively clean and well run (I'm talking the region, not necessarily the city) 7. Great schools in some of the suburbs. Negatives 1. Mean career and power obsessed workaholics who talk about politics all the time 2.Horribly humid summers with pollution problems on the worst days 3. Bland, boring, buttoned down town with not much of a creative community 4. Metro trains and escalators breaking down after 30 years of heavy use 5. Traffic is pretty bad in most places 6. Housing expensive (but where isn't it?). Like I said, it depends on what you're looking for.
