We moved to the St. Louis metro area after doing extensive research, including this website. We were surprised to find out how high the cost of living actually is here. Taxes are quite high here and there are many of them, including a personal property tax and tax on purchases of food that varies from store to store and town to town. You need to take this into consideration before negotiating any salary here.
