I can only speak for people that look like me (white). We have no issue with people. We have an issue with crime and bad behavior. There is quite a bit of crime here per capita and this explains my previous sentence. I have lived in Florida and taught school there. Florida, like North Carolina is diverse but that only is as good as the individuals that make it diverse. Asians and Hispanics around are great and have assimilated well. They are part of our great diversity. Bottom line, any state can be a racist state especially up north. If you want a place with no racial tensions, I suggest you move where racial diversity is void of bad people. Good luck with that.

I am looking as well to relocate to either Wilmington, or Greenville, NC and had the same question, however, unfortunately there will be racism where ever you go. It will depend on your mentality and willingness to help make a change.
