Review of Siesta Key, Florida

Travel Tips when visiting Siesta Key/ Sarasota

Siesta Key.... wow! This must be one of the best places in the U.S.. My family has vacationed here since 1976 and has watched this place grow up. Lots of things to do in the area, from Museums and Art Galleries to Farmers Markets and Concert venues... Siesta Key Beach is #1 in the U.S. with it's white powdery sand. Personally, I like Turtle Beach on the south end of the island best. It's much less crowded at the south end... and a more adventurous walk southward by some incredible estates. The only public boat launch and public kayak area is at Turtle Beach. Across from the beach: Happy Hour Dinner Menu at Turtles Restaurant cant be beat! Favorite place to stay is Coral Shores on Midnight Pass Road (9022)... it's a small 8-unit vintage condo community with boat slips and a heated pool (used to be a fishing camp). The complex also can be seen in the background for several seen in the MTV series "Siesta Key", Just steps from Coral Shores is the Siesta Key "Breeze" Trolley... it's free! Take the trolley into the village and check out the live music at SKOB (Siesta Key Oyster Bar) and Gilligans. Captain Curts, the Sniki Tiki and Daqueri Deck are other hot spots. Have kids?: find real fossilized shark teeth at Caspersen Beach in Venice! You'll pass the Turvis Tumbler factory along the way too. Fun facts: drive down Point of Rocks Road to see the mansion used in the MTV series. Ringling Museum of Art and Bayfront Gardens is free on Mondays (most people do not know this). Thank you John Ringling for putting this in your will!
