Looking for a place with lower humidity/heat index

My wife and I live in this small community 40 miles west of Houston on the I-10 freeway. It is a nice, safe little town, but as is almost all the rest of the Texas Gulf coast, the high humidity is taking its toll on my wife and I.
We are actively searching (partly using Sperling's Best Places) for a small place with lower humidity and a good Comfort Index. The other consideration is, since we are retired people living a a fixed budget, low housing costs.
