Yucca Valley: Climate/Economy/Prices
Star Rating - 1/6/2013
Yucca Valley is a unique and mystical environment of amazing natural beauty. It has a small-town vibe, not much traffic, quiet neighborhoods and wide-open spaces, incredible star-filled night skies and sunny days. Summer can be hot: a few days of highs around 110. Increasing humidity is an issue: residents have been complaining that it is more humid than it used to be. In dry heat swamp coolers work well but when it's humid they don't work. Swamp coolers are very inexpensive to run. New HVAC units use less electricity; install solar panels and it's free. I don't like being cooped up inside in the summer: running errands in the morning and going out after 7 is wonderful. But not every day is hot. Anything under 100 is usually acceptable. It can snow in the winter -- this is the high desert, after all. Hawaii it isn't. But if you love the desert expansiveness, it can be heaven. I love it: the feeling here is like no other. Houses are incredibly cheap right now. If you have a way to make a living (jobs aren't plentiful or high-paying)or better yet, if you are retired you could have a very pleasant life in Yucca Valley.
