Review of San Jose, California

Declining quality of life…
Star Rating - 10/14/2022
I lived in San Jose for 40 years. That’s during the most exciting time when the Silicon Valley was booming with real technology and San Jose was ranked as the safest big city in America! I also worked in public safety for 34 years and left as soon as I could due to the decline in every metric that matters.
Infrastructure is not maintained, traffic is the worst in the state, schools are ranked second to worst in the nation and the cost of living outpaces salaries by nearly 3/1. Everything is more expensive, housing, power, water, taxes gasoline! While Sam Licardo has made inroads at repairing public safety in San Jose, the city has not recovered from Chuck Reed (democratic mayor) defunding public safety in 2008! (See measure H from that era) I lived in a desirable neighborhood. (95120) Someone’s Home or automobile was getting burglarized every day! My neighbors all look the other way, likely ignoring the reality that they live in a declining part of the country.
The dichotomy is that property values double every 10 years in this area! Some the best, diverse and freshest food options are in your back yard! Cultural diversity is amazing and access to attractions also close and fun! Just know that you will wait in traffic and wait in long lines for the experience… just too much to overlook.
