We moved to Mesquite because Henderson was too crowded and housing was either too expensive or just plain not available at an affordable price. Mesquite offers Golf and Gambling, there are plenty of "Trump-Like" people here that cover their cars with propaganda, park taking up more than one parking space and do not want to wear masks. To get an affordable house, you must live in an apartment, multiplex condo, or forget it. Want to buy land? Try over $65,000 for a small lot, most likely with an HOA or monopolized builder. With the heat and lack of things to do, we are looking elsewhere. Too bad, because it is, or was, small and there seems to be more good people than bad. But what good is a place with unaffordable single dwelling homes minus the HOA. And, did I mention that cell phone coverage and cable television are not great. There are "revolving-Door" type minimum wage jobs ... people keep quitting probably because the work is not sufficiently compensated for. The casinos are filled with smokers, but Eureka does have 2 spaces for Tesla charging, one of which can charge our PHEV. The Holiday Inn also has a Tesla charging station. Walmart has rarely used charging stations, probably because they are too expensive to use. I believe that we, retirees, are getting priced out of scarce affordable housing. The price of land alone is exorbitant! You can come to Mesquite if you like, but just be aware of what people are telling you in these posts!
