Review of Naples, Florida

I had high hopes of starting over in Naples. I had completed real estate classes and was on my way to getting my FL license. I arrived in early November 2019 and it was nothing like when i had visited previously October 25, 2014 and found tranquility. Now it was crazy busy. Major traffic. Couldn't see two feet in front of my face. What really turned me off was running into one person after another who told me they have a minimum of 3 to 4 roommates and multiple jobs servicing the ultra wealthy just to afford housing and get by. Many were working 60 hours a week...and still telling me it's a struggle to get by. No thank you. Naples may be abundant with wealth, but it's also abundant with the working poor...many who live in the homeless shelter for $300/month...something Naples would rather gloss over. Despite all that money in the local economy the working homeless still have to pay to be housed in a crowded shelter. I find that pathetic and unacceptable; with that much money there, there's no excuse. As for the town, it's unarguably gorgeous and smells heavenly. Unfortunately; when i was there recently I ground it much too densely packed to enjoy.

I have been living in Naples for over ten years. Coming from the northeast our family found immediate employment and reasonable housing outside the city of Naples. More and more young people have been buying homes here in Naples. Most importantly the infrastructure after Irma has widely improved. What a nice place to rise a family. Thank you

You got here November 2019 and posted your opinion in November 2019. I hope people realize that and accept your opinion as uninformed, because you really whiffed. I’ll give you the traffic comment though... from January through March it can be pretty congested. However, “the working class” are in the exact same position as any other popular tourist city. They work in food service, hospitality and tourism jobs not because they are forced to, but because this is a great city to make a living doing what they do. God love ‘em! The city itself is full of remarkable people (old, young, wealthy and working class), housing is affordable, all the conveniences of any major city, with a resort atmosphere, amazing social and dining options, golf, tennis and other sports and fitness opportunities up the whazoo. Oh, and did I mention it’s 20 minutes to Fort Myers and an hour from Miami if your craving world class concerts, entertainment, professional sports or hot nightlife? Or that it lands in the Caribbean weather district and we are showered with golden sunshine every day? I would say; if I die I hope this what heaven is like. But, I’m already living in heaven. I’m sorry your (short) stab as a real estate agent bombed in Naples, but if your comment is your honest remembrance of your stay here, I gotta tell you, you really missed out and practically everything Naples had to offer. Good luck to you on your next challenge - gotta go, heading to the beach and downtown Naples for cold beers and fresh crab! Peace!
