Review of Cortez, Colorado

Cortez is a horrible dirty boring town.
Star Rating - 12/2/2020
I've live on this area and cannot recommend it to anyone. Cortez and Montezuma county are horrible. School are bad. After meeting several local teachers I am surprised they have a college degree. Surprisingly poor grammar and dress like homeless people. There is no entertainment. People here thing entertainment means going to a bar and getting drunk. The restaurants are horrible. Bad good and really bad services. Very few are even clean. The local government is corrupt and the police dept is incompetent and bullies. The local sheet of dept is worse. The population is low class and very undereducated. Don't even attempt to have an intelligent conversation. Conversation is about the local car races and the bars. Medical services are very poor. Doctors ate in poor health, over weight and just lazy. The hospital is dirty understaffrd and poorly run. Shopping is limited to ask mart and 2 grocery stores. Just a sad, poor, dirty town with nothing going on. I am moving as soon as possible. Oh and the locals refuse to wear masks. Trump is worshiped here.

Typical millennial-inspired drivel and reactionary antagonism. Judging from this poorly constructed comment, lacking in complete sentences, proper grammar and spelling, and littered with typos, it's clear one should measure this opinion with a hefty grain of salt. Having only visited Cortez, I cannot speak authentically as to the quality of life offered there as a long-term resident; but I did enjoy my visit immensely and found those with whom I engaged to be hospitable, down-to-earth and helpful. The scenic rewards and recreational opportunities were outstanding. As to the specific reference to Trump: to each his or her own; bad-mouthing those who disagree with the OP's personal choice is impolitic at best and unfounded by the facts that Trump supporters embrace.

Some of the things you say are true, but we would rather be in Cortez than in the mess that is so much worse just about everywhere else! We do love Trump, think the diner restaurants are crumby, except Denny’s (always consistently good). As for the locals being casual dressers, how should they dress living where they do? Most are wise to wear clothing and shoes that are ready to be outdoors, not to go for fine dining and dancing? What brought you to our town? We have a home in Southern California also, and when there, you dress as they do, the weather conditions and lifestyle allow for that... so what did you expect? Tourism is what draws most outsiders, Mesa Verde, then Durango; can you find a better place, better beauty, weather, clean and mostly safe living, let me know! The cities are full of crime, violence, filthy everywhere, and corruption way beyond what you are accusing our police force!? What say YOU? And why shouldn’t we love our President, he has been the only president in my lifetime who has kept every promise he ever made!? Biden has been a criminal for his entire political career, caving to all his, and his crony pals, China, Ukraine, and all corrupt special interests.
