Stay as far North of Atlanta as possible

We retired and later settled from Southern Maine to Forsyth County in central north Georgia. Here we have parks, walking trails, good climate with somewhat changing seasons, and GREAT SHOPPING MALLS. We are close to Lake Lanier, the integrity of which is super guarded by State and County. One very good aspect of life here is that is very family oriented and religious. There is strong police and sheriff presence and crime is strongly not tolerated, hence an extremely low crime rate. Another fine aspect is that seniors (above 65) pay no school tax on their property tax. The homes are well built and affordable. Gardening is great here. Admittedly the summer is a little warmer than one would want but it does not last that long. Perhaps four warm months, then very temperate. Good physicians and medical care with lots of specialists. We are about fifty miles north of Atlanta, just about enough.
