Review of Ormond Beach, Florida

Great place with some faults (overdevelopment)
Star Rating - 8/4/2019
If you want a fairly affordable place to live near or by the beach, this is it. If you like a quieter lifestyle, Ormond will suit you. Tomoka State Park is right here and then there is the lovely “Loop” and other parks with historic structures (remnants of old sugar mills). We live in a community built in the 70s. People have done a fabulous job redoing the houses...no cookie cutters here. And it’s one of the few communities we have lived where our neighbors have become our friends.
The Main Street/downtown Ormond area is historic and cute and offers a number of independently owned restaurants. There are regular “art walks,” new little shops and restaurants popping up here and there.
And the beach is gorgeous on this part of the Atlantic coast.
My problem with the area is that people have found out about it and it is being overdeveloped while wildlife is being chased out. I do like that we have a new Lucky’s Market, and we’re getting an Aldi, and one of the Publix’s is expanding/being redesigned. But traffic is getting MUCH worse and crime has increased.
