Review of West Lafayette, Indiana

Average College Town
Star Rating - 4/9/2007
This is the third college town I have lived in, and so far my least favorite of the three. It's nice, quiet, and the cost of living is low. Overall, not a bad place to live. It's just that, compared to other college towns I have lived in, Urbana, IL and Boulder, CO, there is a bit of lack of culture. The others had several European and/or World markets, a great arts scene including visits from world ballets and symphonies, while West Lafayette has a much more toned town cultural scene, mostly local. It's safe, cheap, close to two larger cities, Chicago and Indianapolis, and some nice parks and bike trails. Overall, not a bad stop-over place, although I most likely will not be staying here once grad school is finished.
