The city is going through "Urban Renewal", which means the poor, elderly and homeless can't afford the "NEW" Townhomes so this is what goes on if you fall under either one of these titles!

We bought our home in 2017. Carson is ideally located with the 405, 110 and 91 close by and the 710 and 605 about 15 min away (non-traffic times.) This makes Carson very centrally located to most large entertainment venues and metropolitan centers. If you're willing to pay $40 month for a FastTrack, even better. We're at Avalon and 223rd. Its a decent working class area and we've had wonderful neighbors. As for the urban renewal placing housing out of the hands of the poor, elderly and homeless, that's true in a broad sense. However, we're elderly, we lived in California all of our adult working lives and we planned. We're not rich but we manage well within our means. What's affordable in California for those with less means? Unfortunately, you would have to travel far, like Palmdale or Lancaster. These are well-developed areas with shopping, and decent health care options. I lived in Acton for years and know the areas well. There are still homeless and the poor that can't afford housing. So the broad sense of affordability still applies and not as much a true statement about Carson, but a truer statement about California. We like living here. The new townhomes with retail stores at street level are welcome. Where some cannot afford a single family home, they can still afford a townhome. Those who can't buy, rent. It all contributes to the economy of this city and its appeal and vibrancy.
