Sex trafficking? Wow, I’ve lived here 21 years and neither read a thing nor heard a whisper about it. Crime? It’s a city, yeah there's some, but what city is spotless in that regard? This city is fun and safe. Whoever wrote this review is surely disgruntled for some reason and certainly a glass-half-empty type of person. I can’t see myself living any other place. Asheville just has too much to offer.

This is a nonsensical review, possibly some kid goofing around. I moved to the Asheville area from the NYC suburbs six years ago, and highly recommend this city. The natural beauty is stunning, and the culture is very impressive for a city of only 92,000. House prices are actually slightly below the national average (which is dirt cheap if you are coming from a major metro area like NYC). According to the statistics, Asheville does have higher crime rates than most other NC cities, but I have never seen evidence of it in my personal life. It's a safe place to live, especially when compared to large cities. The major problem with Asheville is a lack of good-paying jobs, as there isn't much industry here.

I am a Northerner who has lived in Nashville, Tn. & thinking about relocating to Asheville. It is different living in the South but there are people everywhere that are guilty of doing just what you described. As for overpriced Housing just move to Nashville! And watch out for the Flooding when it rains, the overbuilding in neighborhoods, & the never to be fixed Traffic problem! Yes no income tax but 9.25% tax on everything & Housing Property taxes going up 34%, I don't know where all the Relocate Magazines get their info, but if you live in a nice area in Nashville your taxes are HIGH. And unless you like to hang out in Bars, there's not too much to do here.
