Review of Orlando, Florida

This Town Is Awful
Star Rating - 3/6/2011
First, allow me to clarify that I was born and raised in Florida. Specifically, the beachside. This state gas been on a sharp decline since my childhood, helped along by Northerners who imported the horrible, jaded, rude attitude that defines Florida today.

Every day starts with my commute to work. I am lucky I have a job, seeing as there aren't many here. Sure, you can get a job at one of the theme parks making $7.25 an hour, but most people like to eat and pay rent. My commute involves navigating a series of clogged backsides before hitting the I-4 parking lot. There are accidents every morning, and every yokel has to stop and gawk at it. I plan 90 minutes to get to work each day. I live 31 miles away. Seriously. The roads have not kept up with the fact that every New Yorker, Canadian, and retiree has moved here.

Yes, lucky to have a job. Except, of course, this is a right-to-work state, meaning I could be fired at any moment without a reason. It's good to feel valuable. Thanks, Florida!

Another thing I can thank Florida for is my subpar education. Americans are getting dumber by the year, and Florida consistently ranks at the bottom of every education list. If you graduate from a Florida public school, you'll either be able to read or do math. Both are never achieved successfully. I can barely work an algebraic equation which rendered me to numerous remedial classes in college (a very common problem), yet they gave me a high school diploma and kicked me out into the real world. My education was a joke. I was never diagnosed with ADHD in school and had issues that were never addressed. In fact, I barely did homework and spend 50% of class doodling and 50% daydreaming. It's nearly impossible to have an intellectual conversation here because locals are absolutely incapable of critical thinking. I graduated with above a 3.0 GPA. In Florida, I could have become a doctor.

On that note, many flunkees of life do practice medicine here. Our healthcare is a joke. In Orlando, I had to see four different gynecologists to get a common female problem diagnosed. Doctors who have been kicked out of New York regularly practice medicine in Florida. We also have a slew of "pain clinics" that are painkiller dispensaries. One of these babies in your neighborhood, along with the onslaught of people dealing on your lawn, will surely kill your property value.

The cost of living here is not great. People say it is, but these idiots are from New York. $700 for a 1-bedroom apartment in a neighborhood with drive-by shootings is not spectacular when the average person makes about $12 an hour. The pay here us garbage. Thank you, Disney. I hold a degree and the jobs I see want to pay me $9-$10 an hour, which is insulting. Gas is often higher in price than most states and we definitely pay more for fruits and vegetables.

Now that I've trashed Florida as a whole, let me sum up Orlando:
-Angriest City In America 2006
-#9 Rudest City in America 2011
-#3 Most Violent Crimes 2011
-Traffic congestion so bad, your car will become a vessel for primal screaming
-Extremely high number of uninsured drivers
-We have one of the highest populations of registered sex offenders in the country
-Turn on "Nancy Grace." I guarantee that murdered child case happened here
-Everybody is aloof. Southern grace and charm has long been replaced by Northern apathy
-There are NO jobs. What you'll find is low in pay. Anybody who moves here for work is a fool
-There used to be a defined Orlando ghetto. It has spread outward. Now it encompasses most of Orlando
-If you live in an apartment complex as a single woman, you will be frightened
-Orlando hates the homeless. It is illegal to feed them. Yes, you can go to jail for giving a bum at Big Mac. Guess what they do now? They bombard you for CASH when you go downtown. Good luck getting from your car to destination on food without bring solicited at least 3 times
-The weather. If you like being hot and sweaty (and some people do) then this will be Heaven. If you like mild and sunny, we get that for about a month. Every day from April-October is when it pours rain every afternoon. Thunderstorms with lightening are normal
-Because of the lovely weather, it's harder to get insurance on your home. My parents were dropped after 25 years and had to find another provider. It was a difficult process.

Orlando sucks. I hate this place with a passion. As a young woman, I'm desperate to leave so I don't end up settling here and raising idiotic children. Coming here would be a poor decision on anybody's behalf.

I agree with you 100%. Orlando is terrible. I went to middle and high school in Orlando, and it is a joke! Get out of there as soon as you can! I am currently in Dubuque, IA which I do not like, but at least I have a decent paying job while I work on my degree. You will be happy to get out of FL :-)

Orlando is a horrendous city it is something out of a bad movie where the city is like a cult and these people are not human theyre like demons or some other creatures most negative wicked people live in Orlando. If you're a kind genuine person you will be nothing but harassed in abused in Orlando every minute of your existence it is worse than a non some other level Words cannot describe the kind of people that live in Orlando and how horrible they are if you are a good person you will get abused harassed ran out of the city while all the evil people are treated well by the other evil people of Orlando. It's a city full of the most Soulless creatures you can imagine Heck even Justin Bieber came to Orlando and complained about how crappy the people are celebrities have seen all kinds of crap so if the celebrity is saying the people of Orlando suck then it really means something As a kind sweet female I get harassed in Orlando daily by all these worthless bizarre creatures that live there all they want to do is abuse harass you and treat you like crap and give you a hard time just disrespect and demean you especially if you are of quality if you're beautiful you're talented or have something going for you these mentally ill worthless Orlando idiots will do everything to just treat u badly.

Its a horrible city and the reason why- most of the people of that city are just sociopaths. Angry bitter rude jerks and losers. If you're not a sociopath like them they will harass and abuse you- that's how it is in orlando. Ive been living in that hellhole for 15 years, and in 15 years you know what- I managed to make ONE friend. How crazy is that? I'm a likeable personable friendly person and attractive, but that's what the idiots of orlando hate- people with talent, beauty, intelligence. I made more friends in another city in ONE day than I did in orlando in 15 years. There are nice people in orlando but they'll never be your friend, and then you're left to deal with all the weirdos and psychos there. The people of Orlando are really robotic and soulless. I'm a female who lives on my own. Not a single of my neighbors have EVER tried to be friends or even say hi to you. Even if they like you- they'll never talk to you. One guy did talk to me ONCE lol many years ago. I tried callign him a few times he never answered. In 10 years he has NEVER said a word to me again. But when I got my car washed and it was brought back sparkling clean, this crazy creep stood behind my car as I was pulling out to freak me out- again not saying a word to me but just standing there to scare me. The people of orlando are crazy soulless freaks. They aren't even human i dont know what they are, and the entire damn city is full of them. Maybe they are fake humans or robots but they don't have souls it seems. Other neighbors of mine used to harass me years ago- oh yeah they'll never talk to you, but they will harass and abuse you. Every therapist I have been to has been a sociopath as well- crazy people are therapists there- again psychopaths with no souls. There are soulless jerks everywhere in the world but orlando is full of them everywhere. Two therapists I went to in fact became abusive and bullied me when I was in a situation and needed help. Another recently began getting into 'sexual things' with me and doesn't seem to want to help me now that I showed disinterest- he too is behaving like a sociopath. Weird people live there- bizarre strange people. Again they 'seem' human but they're not- they're these weirdos I can't describe. If you do want to make friends I tell people you have to sell your soul to people to make friends there literally. You have to commit to people in the craziest ways or let them use you- that's the only way you can meet people there. You have to join some lame meetup group and commit to them and keep going for them to like you and even then who knows. My brother was friends with owners of a restaurant there- all sociopaths or jerks. Though they know my family, everytime I went in to get food, the father was so rude to me and even tried to overcharge me many times, and the mother was mean to me too. I mean what kind of sick people mistreat a young sweet female? I'm telling you only sociopaths with no souls live in that city and it's full of these psycho robotic weirdos and freaks. Ive talked to many people who had the same experience- moved to orlando and only met the lowest class trash possible and got used abused. only the most worthless trashiest people live there. Most move there and say "i dont know anyone here." I'm thinking, yep and that's how it's going to be in craplando. It's the worst city - the most worthless jerks live there... I went to get some MRI's done recently- every single tech abused me. The office staff was nice, but the first tech, she purposely dropped the ball on me, then she was yelling at me while I was changing and crazy. The other two techs were rude and abusive and crazy. There was an old lady who began crying cuz she couldn't do her MRI and I tried being nice to her and she didn't care or respond. The only place where you can find normal nice people at are the people that work at the shopping malls- everytime I go to the mall everyone there is really nice that's about it.

Orlando is one of the worst cities on the planet and not because of the city itself but because of the wretched people that live there. Orlando is the gateway to hell and the only people that live here are rude mindless soulless robots and psychopaths. There are rude people in every city but in other cities there are many nice people too and great people Orlando has none of that. Orlando is literally riddled with the most bottom feeding scum humans on the face of the earth I promise you that. The freaks that Inhabit Orlando are soulless negative bottom feeding demons they're horrible people. Only negative people live in Orlando and Central Florida and the worst part is if you're positive these terrible crazy creepy negative Orlando freaks will do anything to bring you down. Let's say you're a happy positive wonderful person the trash residentsof Orlando will collectively dislike you and try to bring u down rather than appreciate who you are. I've been living in Orlando for 15 years and in the 15 years I've managed to make maybe three friends maybe. The people are the unfriendliest on the face of the planet. Meeting people in Orlando is virtually impossible because the people are so crappy rude and unfriendly and nobody wants to be friends with anyone. If you possess anything great such as beauty talent intellect the central Floridiots will basically hate you and treat you like dirt When I go to other cities even in Florida I can generally meet nice normal people who are normal friendly. Not Orlando it's full of angry negative bitter rejects losers jerks bottom feeding scum from hell. It's the entire city full of soulless negative robotic weird garbage people. A guy recently talked to said oh that's why you're having so many problems you live in Orlando that city is full of mental patients And it's so damn true. I once met a guy from Europe who said are you going to call me he said because all people do here is take your number and never talk to you again. Orlando is the worst. I've never encountered such horrible weird people in my life And he's horrible weird people are all losers they have nothing going for them though these bottom feeding gutter weirdos and they think they're so great and all they do is pick on others they are the worst people possible. They'll only be nice to you if you're a lame weirdo or loser like them. If you happen to be beautiful positive friendly or good they will shun outcast you and treat you like crap. That's why you'll see that the people that seem to like Orlando are all the same breed of loser trash because the loser trash losers of Orlando treat those losers well. Orlando's a collaboration of losers The people there are the most negative jerks and losers on the planet- orlando is just a collaboration of evil losers jerks and trash people. I compare the people to demons because that's what they are- they are a different breed of backwards trash and losers. It's almost like a parallel universe- the idiots there look human and seem human- but they don't act it- they're these weirdos and creeps, and the entire city is full of these soulless negative evil robots. The drivers are the worst- moronic crazy sick dumb people on the roads. Families are horrible, people are horrible. It's the worst place because of these pathetic classless evil people there.

I am so happy to read this, as I thought I was just some hateful asshole to this town. Living here has made me a jaded acrophobic shut in. I can’t go down my street without some jerk driving like an idiot trying to get in a wreck, or some other asshole just wanting to ruin the day.

You certainly are articulate! I just applied for a job there, but thank goodness, they didn't want me. I'll look elsewhere. I just wrote an ambivalent blurb on Seattle, but you make Seattle look like it's really got it together. We just die a slow death...

I agree with you and one comment not mentioned is how rude and unhelpful are the local police. I own a building downtown that was vandalized and tried to stop and get the attention of a beat cop. He ignored me until I called him out and told him that he better get over his rude attitude. All I wanted was to find out how to get a trespass order for the building.

I was brought up in Orlando for part of my childhood in the 80’s, which I remember as being hot, humid, but still a pretty place to live. The school I went to wasn't too bad either, as I remember moving from Florida to Chicago and being ahead of my class. But I do agree with you, that Florida (Orlando) has lost a lot of its charm. I don't live in America any more. I actually moved to London, England where I have been living for about ten years now. The issues that you listed above (This Town Is Awful) don't exist here. But there are other issues. To be honest the idea of a utopian world does bore me a bit. There is no perfect place, but instead a place that one can be content. I do agree with you. Florida is a bit backwards and recently been overrun by a lower class (Uneducated - therefore naive and easily exploited). Although my parents live there, I do hate the state for not only the reasons you listed above, but also that it's backwards and scary in some places. I remember Florida having a lot of hicks, but I recently visited and noticed an increase in gang violence and lack of opportunities, shops being boarded up and to be honest lack of creativity (Entrepreneurial minds) within the community, which is a big problem throughout America at the moment. I do go back occasionally to visit my family, but I couldn’t ever live there again. If I did move back to America I would probably want to live somewhere like Northern California or Seattle. Good luck and I hope that you have found a way out.
